Jyotish Tools for Android has been released. You can see a video of the demo on the
Android page on JyotishTools.com. The program has some new features and uses updated Systems Approach rules. Charts are stored in an SQLite database which is exportable. I've also added western glyphs to the program. Android phones are becoming very popular since they are available from many wireless carriers throughout the world. The program is available on the Android Market for and introductory prices of $9.95 USD.

Brian,
Does your program have the capability to show the Nakshatra sublord that a planet or house cusp is in? Planetary location down to the second (longitude) is needed, and from the screenshots, it looks like the location resolution is only to the minute (longitude).
Essentially, I'd like to use your program with the Krishnamurthi Padathi (KP) system, using the Shripathi house system and the Placidus house system.
Thanks,
Ryan
No it does not do that level of precision. The font would be so small you wouldn't be able to read it on a phone. Phone apps are not supposed to replace desktop apps. The screens are way too small. Keep a notebook with you for that.
Thanks. I agree with you that the phone app isn't (and shouldn't be) a replacement for a much more full-featured desktop app.
I was just asking because Nakshatra sublords are tremendously powerful for use with Prashna, and it would seem to me that Prashna is the most obvious use case for a mobile Jyotish phone app.
The program lists the padas but not the sublords. You're probably the first person ask for those but there have been many requests for the padas. Basically I'm not into "kitchen sink" astrology software. It's just too much work for little return on the investment. Besides there are plenty of those kind of publishers already. Most of my software is to support the Systems Approach.
I just downloaded your free "Quick Jyotish" for my Android.
I found 1 Small error, in the South Indian chart style the Ascendant(Lagna) seems to be in exact opposite direction. Please do rectify it! Anyways Great Work! This is the reason i am a bit hesitant to get the "Jyotish Tools" full version I am wondering if it would have the same error!
You probably entered the time zone wrong. For instance for India you enter -5 hours 30 minutes not +5 hours 30 minutes. Doing the latter will flip the ascendant in India (being close to the equator) 180 degrees. The latter is for figuring out the time in a location given we know GMT time. That is the most common use of time zones. However most astrologers know you need to flip the sign to get the opposite calculation or what time it was GMT when we know the time for the location. Astronomy engines are based on GMT is the reason. Also entering the longitude and latitude wrong can change the ascendant too. "Garbage in, garbage out" is an old saying in the computer tech.
