Rahu Transits

Rahu and Ketu are about to change signs again moving from Pisces to Aquarius on the 9th of November.  This is by true node calculation as they changed about one month ago using mean node calculation.  Rahu transits trigger the theme of the house that it is in.  For instance a transit in the 6th house may increase health problems or conflicts.  We can often find transit lists for the other planets but I found there were none for Rahu so I wrote a program to calculate them from 1901 to 2048.  Here is the list:

More on Pocket PC and Smartphones

I did a little more reading on the Pocket PC versus Smartphone issue and found there is indeed a lot of confusion on the issue. To be sure if you already own a cellphone which has Windows Mobile you can always try installing the demo of Jyotish Tools for the Pocket PC and see if it works. If you are planning on purchasing a Windows Mobile phone then see if the specs list it as having Windows Mobile for the Pocket PC. If you cannot find the specs check with the manufacturer. They need to make the spec more clear but I am beginning to think the manufacturers may be shying away from Smartphone OS only phones due to the large amount of software developed for the Pocket PC platform.

Are you aware of any specific Smartphones that do run your software suitably? Thank you.

Since I don't get sample phones to test with from the companies I can't comment from any direct experience.  Some customers have apparently found that it will work with the Treo 700w and the Cingular 8125.  If there are others who have found they work with another phone even if it was just the demo version I would welcome hearing from them.  As I understand it the Smartphone version of the OS is very stripped down whereas there are phones where the Pocket PC version of Windows Mobile is installed  and can handle some mininal interaction with the phone OS.

I just arrived back in India and decided to try an all in one pocket device rather than carrying a camera,MP3 player, PDA and phone. So making the assumption that I wanted to port everything from my trusty Palm Vx I bought the Treo 650.

Problem is after a full hotsync it shows the Jyotish to Go version 1.3 but it won't run it. Just resets the system every time I try to run the program.

Not too late to return the phone so please let me know which one to get. I am NOT tied to the Palm OS and can easily port my data to a different OS.

Please let me know ASAP what you consider my best option. I find having Jyotish to Go is a SUPER ice breaker when meeting various businessmen and other VIPs here in India.

    Thanks.

It should work fine on a 650.  Several other customers with 650s are running it.  Try deleting it and re-installing as it might have gotten corrupted during the transfer.

thanks. Seems to work now although when I tried to change the chart data it reset the system instead. Anyway so far I ran my own chart after installing the last version I have which is 1.3 Most likely I have to re-calculate all the charts I have on my Palm Vx unless there is a way to beam them across that I don't know about. Lot of work that.

If you backed up your charts from the other Palm then it will be in a directory on your desktop in the directory for the Palm Desktop or Hotsync program under the user profile as Jyotish To GoDB.PDB .  The program will need to be deleted again from the Palm along with the existing database.   Then install the  Jyotish To GoDB.PDB first and then the program.  The program will then see your old charts.  For further help you can email: support@jyotishtools.com

Hi Brian, I am thinking of buying the Nokia E61. Will I be able to run your Jyotish to go program on this? Thanks. With regards.

From what I can tell the E61 has a Symbian OS so it will not work with Jyotish To Go.  You need a Palm OS phone for that.

    Dear Sir,
There is difference in calculation of degrees in your two softwares provided on your free download portal i.e. jjsetup.exe & QJyotPPCSetup.exe. Also, the second one is not clear on 12/24 hrs clock or by AM & PM system which is not giving the accurate degrees of AS & planets. Kindly have a look and please guide if this can be avoided.

Can you give me an example of what differences you are seeing such as a chart and what degrees are off?  Unlike Junior Jyotish the Quick Jyotish program has a positive and negative selection for the time zone.  This helps with charts around the GMT zone especially when daylight time is in effect. Chances are you failed to set the zone properly.  24 hour time is simply 0:00 hour is midnight and 12:00 is noon.  The planetary engine in Quick Jyotish is more accurate than in Junior Jyotish.

        Dear Brian,
I am in Delhi. Time is 20:38 (08:38PM), Lat/Long of Delhi are 77E39 28N13. Time Zone selection is +5:30 in both i.e.in MY Desktop PC & O2 palm top. The both machines are well synchronized with each other. In Junior jyotish program running in my Desktop PC, I am getting Cancer Lagan with As as 19.06 deg. whereas in O2 Palm top it is giving Sagittarius Lagan with As at 13 Deg. Now, as an example, I have change Time zone as negetive on palm top, now the chart is showing Capricorn Lagan with As at 26. The Actual lagan in Delhi at this time (20:51 Hrs. i.e. 08:51PM) is Cancer Lagan with As at 21.52 Deg. The result is very accurate in Junior jyotish Program on my desktop but I am not getting proper result on my Palm top with similar settings. I shall be grateful to you if you kindly guide me further on this.
        With deep regards,
        Shubhprabhat.

Worked okay here but you may not be checking the "E" box and that is why you are getting the Capricorn Lagna.   Unfortunately the fact that the "E" box (for East longitude) was previously checked is not being picked up by the code in Edit mode.  I'll look into that after the first of the year and fix it.  Otherwise the results are the same as Jyotish Tools for Windows and Quick Jyotish for Windows.  Thanks for the catch.
